Likes don't pay your bills

Kevin Szabo

Ever catch yourself refreshing your social media, chasing that next hit of likes?

Pathetic, right?

To be honest, I have been there myself.

A trap that all of you must avoid at all costs.

So let’s talk about the trap you’re probably falling into.

Back then, I was pumping out tweets that racked up 1,000 likes like it was nothing.

(Dropped sense then).

But if a post didn’t hit that number?

Straight to the trash.

I convinced it was garbage.

Even if it was truly high value.

But now?

I’d rather die than let those numbers control me again.

It’s unhealthy, and honestly, it’s a little sad.

My mood used to swing with my engagement metrics.

Low likes? Cue the tantrum.

High likes? I’m on top of the world.

But here’s the kicker: I wasn’t making a dime.

Just chasing dopamine hits from meaningless platitudes.

My routine?

Post some fluffy nonsense every morning, check likes obsessively, repeat.

I was posting once a day just to milk maximum engagement.

Pathetic, right?

Then reality slapped me awake.

I was offering nothing.

No value, just five-second dopamine spikes for strangers.

My content was trash, and my account was dying.

So I flipped the script.

I ditched the platitudes and started posting real value.

Sure, my likes tanked, but my account’s never been more alive.

Stop writing for likes.

You didn’t start this to be a like-chasing clown.

You started to dominate your niche, make serious money, and change lives.

You can’t do that if you’re fishing for validation.

Here’s the irony:

The content that gets the most likes engagement bait and empty platitudes does nothing for anyone.

But the stuff that barely gets a glance?

The real, valuable content?

That’s what changes lives and builds your name.

And that’s why I started to change up my content because of it.

So do us both a favor.

Stop obsessing over your likes.

Stop refreshing your metrics like a desperate addict.

Quit posting garbage for a quick ego boost.

Start solving problems.

Establish yourself as the go-to authority.

You might not get the likes, but you’ll get the money and the respect.

The longer you wait to figure this out, the deeper you’re digging your own grave.
