Good we are off to a good start.

Many people undervalue a killer hook.

In a world where everyone is trying to get your attention.

It is more important than ever for you to stand out.

This doesn’t mean that you need to write a strong hook and forget about the body.

The body and the information is what builds credibility, so don’t throw it under the table.

But the hook is how we first grab attention of many readers.

Psychology says that if you can grab attention in the first 4 seconds.

There is a 60% chance they will read the rest of the article/blog/tweet in one sitting.

Compared to a bad hook? it will throw of conversions.

So with the numbers out of the way, you see the importance of it?

A hook can be the difference you’ll make either $100 or $1000 for an article.

So what should I consider writing a hook?

Simple.

Trigger

Triggering emotions has always been the way to capture attention.

That could be anger, curiosity, urgency and in rare cases melancholy (sad).

Have you ever read the top of a tweet and instantly think:

“Oh this looks interesting”

And you drop everything to read it.

I know I have.

Now a hook isn’t just about the first line that you write.

In my Experience there are 2 other kind of hooks.

First: Writing Format.

You want to make your writing style smooth and easy to follow along.

Nobody follows along if you words are in 1 brick.

1 space in-between at least.

And Secondly: Visuals.

Humans are visual creators.

We observe visually, so it is Crucial that what we have a clean imagine.

If you’re posting art/media:

I would recommend no more than 2 primary colours in an image.

Why?

Because that’s what our eyes will catch first.

1 colour? our brain doesn’t pick it up

3+? There is too much going on for our brains to comprehend.

I really hope you start taking hooks seriously.

They are the key difference of you getting attention or not.

See you Tomorrow.
