X paid me $1,500 last month.
I got my payout notification from X last month and it was $1,500.
For content I had already made.
Content I would have posted anyway. No extra work, no special strategy built around the program, no chasing a specific type of post because I thought it would perform better for payouts.
That number still catches me off guard a little if I am being honest.
When I first heard about the X creator payout program I dismissed it.
It sounded like one of those things that sounds good in theory but pays out pennies in practice. T
he kind of program where you read the success stories and assume they belong to accounts with hundreds of thousands of followers and have nothing to do with where you are right now.
I was wrong about that and I want to explain what actually changed my mind.

The program pays based on impressions generated from verified users engaging with your content.
That is the simplified version.
What it means practically is that if you are already creating content that people are reading and responding to, you are already doing the work the program rewards. There is no separate strategy.
There is no different type of content you need to make. You just need to be in the program and consistently showing up the way you hopefully already are.
The first month I took it seriously I made a few hundred dollars. Not life changing but real money.
The kind of money that made me stop dismissing it. Each month after that it grew as my content and my audience continued to develop.
Last month it hit $1,500 and that number covered my groceries for the month and took care of most of my business expenses without me doing a single thing differently than I was already doing.
That is not nothing.
What surprised me most was not the money itself but what it felt like to be paid by the platform I was already spending time on.
There is something psychological about that. It shifts how you think about showing up.
It makes the consistency feel more tangible in a direct way that audience growth alone does not always provide.
A few things I noticed along the way that are worth knowing if you are not in the program yet. The payouts are not linear.
Some months are higher than others for reasons that are not always obvious.
My highest ever month paid me $2,400 with sub payouts.
A month where your content performs exceptionally well does not always produce the highest payout.
The algorithm behind the program is not fully transparent and trying to reverse engineer it is a waste of energy.
The only thing that consistently moves the number over time is a growing audience and consistent content. The fundamentals.
You also need to be a Premium subscriber and meet the follower and impression thresholds before you can access it at all.
If you are not there yet it is worth knowing what the targets are so you can track progress toward them.

You Can't Automate Good Judgement
AI promises speed and efficiency, but it’s leaving many leaders feeling more overwhelmed than ever.
The real problem isn’t technology.
It’s the pressure to do more with less — without losing what makes your leadership effective.
BELAY created the free resource 5 Traits AI Can’t Replace & Why They Matter More Than Ever to help leaders pinpoint where AI can help and where human judgment is still essential.
At BELAY, we help leaders accomplish more by matching them with top-tier, U.S.-based Executive Assistants who bring the discernment, foresight, and relational intelligence that AI can’t replicate.
That way, you can focus on vision. Not systems.
But here is what I want to be clear about before you close this email and immediately go try to optimize your content for payouts.
This is a bonus. That is all it is.
$1,500 a month is real and I am genuinely grateful for it.
It pays actual bills and covers real expenses and that matters.
But it is not predictable enough to build a business around.
The program has changed its terms before and will probably change them again.
The payouts fluctuate in ways you cannot fully control.
And most importantly, chasing payout-friendly content will almost certainly make your content worse, more clickbait, more surface level, less specific, exactly the opposite of what actually builds a business on X.
The people I know who earn the most from X are not the ones optimizing for the payout program.
They are the ones using the platform as leverage to attract clients, sell products, and build something that belongs to them.
The payout is a side effect of doing that well, not the goal itself.
Use X to build trust with the right people.
Use it to demonstrate what you know and attract the clients who need it. Let the payout program reward you quietly in the background for the consistency you are already showing up with.
